Song background:

This arrangement of Angels We Have Heard on High features a string quartet (other instruments may be used). It is relatively simple as the choir sings from the hymnbook. The strings play the hymn through once alone. Then the choir joins the strings on the 1st verse. The organ joins the strings and choir on the 2nd verse. During that chorus the obbligato is added. On the 3rd verse, the congregation joins the organ and choir with the obbligato, while the strings play a counter arrangement.

This piece can also be used during a congregational hymn.
