More about Kenneth R Hardman:
Kenneth R Hardman is a singer songwriter, engineer, father of eight, guitar player, writer, and believer in Jesus Christ.
Song background:

Mortality sometimes brings burdens, unfairness, loneliness and feelings of not being clean or whole. We long for compassion, understanding, and real divine love, comfort and help. I've often wondered how the Savior fills all these needs perfectly and how I can access that love and comfort more often in my time of need. The scriptures indicate that when he bore the sins and pains of all mankind, that it was then that he saw and comprehended our needs, and he bore the Atonement completely for each of us. Latter-day prophets have also instructed that the Saviors joy for our future wholeness and happiness helped him endure and that as we focus on him, and our future joy with him, we can also endure today. Lyrics: For the Joy Set Before Me
By Kenneth R. Hardman © 2024

Jesus, my Savior, what did you see, Deep in that garden, high on that tree?
Anguish, despair, burdens of care, In all you saw was I there somewhere?
I bear a cross, each day I live, Lonely, unfair, hard to forgive.
I am not clean, I am not whole, At times I’m not joyful, please lift my soul.

Child, I love you, I’ll help you see, You are the fruit of the garden and tree.
Anguish, despair, whole worlds in my care, Amidst all I saw, you were right there.
I know your cross, each day you live, Lonely, unfair, I’ll help you forgive.
I know you're not clean, I know you're not whole, When you're not joyful, I’ll lift your soul.

I feel such mercy, how is it done? The gift of God's love, your faith in his Son.
Garden and cross, each pore did bleed, Suffered for sin then you saw your seed.
I saw them clean, I saw them whole, I saw each changed, penitent soul.
From weak to strong, from old to knew, for the joy set before me, I focus on you.
