Song background:

For Christmas programs, What Was It Like? is a beautiful and memorable work.  This two-part arrangement is set for S.A. with piano accompaniment. The lyrics reflect the thoughts of so many of us who wonder what it felt like to those who witnessed the birth and early years of Jesus Christ. The vocal parts are all within normal ranges and of no particular difficulty. The piano accompaniment is of medium difficulty. Meter changes set off the verses from the chorus melody, and there is one key change. Performance time is five minutes. The lyricist, Bruce C. Kusch, is at this time the president of Ensign College in Salt Lake City, Utah. The composer, Dean H. Hamill, resides in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
